Small Story Big Impact (SSBI) was an initiative to boost the creation of documentary films of nature, environment, culture, heritage and people. The aim was to develop talents and encourage content creators to engage with their surroundings and capture the many untold stories around the country.

Initiated by Walkabout Asia, Small Story Big Impact was part of Walk The Doc International Documentary Festival 2023. The
initiative has two parts, the Roadshow and the Mentorship programme. The Roadshow travelled to six locations across four states with two days of masterclasses, workshops, documentary screenings, Q&A sessions and story pitching sessions for the Mentorship Programme. The mentorship programme was open to all content creators, selected participants/pitches received RM 5000 funding and 1.5 months to complete their micro-documentary, as well as a 3-day Documentary Production Workshop in Kuala Lumpur.

All completed micro-documentaries were screened and judged at the festival by an international panel of experienced documentary
